Founder Li Gong of Encha Matcha had an epiphany after tasting the most delicate matcha from an organic farm in Japan. He left his Silicon Valley job and set out on a mission to bring high-quality, organically-farmed matcha to the masses, founding Encha Matcha in 2014. Our goal is to share the same rich, tender matcha Li Gong first tasted with the world — from our farms in Uji, Japan to your cup at home.

What makes our products unique? We use ancient traditions for growing shade-grown, hand-picked, stone-ground tea leaves, which makes all the difference for quality, flavor, and health benefits. Encha’s matcha is USDA Certified Organic, meaning that our farms are 100% certified organic. We never use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and we regularly test for heavy metals and harmful chemicals.

Encha offers three grades of matcha: Ceremonial Grade Matcha, Latte Grade Matcha, and Culinary Grade Matcha. Ceremonial Grade is ground from premium, first harvest leaves and has a delicate, smooth taste. Latte Grade is ground from standard, first harvest leaves and is best mixed with milk and served hot or cold. Culinary Grade is ground from premium, second harvest leaves and has a subtly sweet, earthy taste, best used for cooking and baking.

All of our matcha comes from our two farms, located in the hills of Uji, Japan and is shade grown and stone ground, for optimum flavor and health benefits.

Matcha differs from green tea in that it is shade grown, removing stems, and consumed as a whole leaf rather than steeped, providing additional health benefits like antioxidants. At Encha, we offer Ceremonial Grade, Latte Grade, and Culinary Grade matcha in various sizes, all originating from Japan.
